Aveda walk for water

Its been a little while since my last post but recently I was involved in a great little show for charity organised by Anita Sutton-Galloway from Djurra hair salon.  This was a perfect opportunity to showcase some of my Winter looks so take a peek at these shots.  Models are all from Metro modelling academy. thanks to Rosie Button and Colosoul magazine for the use of these shots.

This stunning shot of my ophelia tutu and black organic silk organza top worn by Rebecca Arnold was styled by Hannah McGrath  and taken by Caitlin Worthington on Rottnest Island under extreme weather conditions.  It makes for an amazing campaign shot for the event - The Dreamers.

These are all shots from 'the dreamers" which was a great little show held on Nov 14th at the Moores Building in Fremantle featuring designers from the Fremantle fashion collective, of which I am one.  The show was beautifully styled and directed by Hannah McGrath, she is a talent! and was supported by DCA and the Perth Fashion Festival.  I am really pleased with the response I got on the night and I was showcasing a number of spring summer 12/13 pieces that I feel particularly proud of.  The hats I made from felt to add to the whimsy of each design.

winter 2012

this was a little video made of my winter 2012.  It features a gorgeous girl, Bec and was made by Andrew Lelong.  I really like Andrew's choice of music because it feels as gentle as the mood that Bec projects.  These clothes are a mix from both of my labels..upstream by megan salmon(available nationally) and megan salmon which is only available from my studio in fremantle.

The clothes are very special to me, They are archival pieces of mine that illustrate my love of sculpture and organza.  Kim is a sensational model!

threads

Threads was a parade as part of Perth Fashion Festival where Fremantle fashion collective designers got to strut their stuff in the Fremantle Town hall 24 and 25th September 2011.  The show was beautiful to watch with wonderful drawings of the designers shops featured as a backdrop. My intention here was to show pieces from my label 'upstream' which features a lot of original prints and has an exotic edge to it.  I chose the boldest colours for the show and teamed them with vintage trimmed obis, belts and tutus to give it a carnivale-like effect. 
All pics here were taken by Songy Knox who recently declared that she wasn't a photographer..but clearly is an exceptional amateur!

summer 2011

These shots are all of my signature line Megan Salmon for summer 2011.  This collection is limited edition and only available from my studio -55 queen Victoria St, Fremantle.  The shots were taken by Slotbox photography of model Rebecca.  I am really pleased with these shots.  Alberto(photographer) has managed to capture the fluid essence of these clothes and there is a high end style that compliments the quality of the make and the cloth.  I will be showcasing this collection in the Designer Collections show as part of the Perth Fashion Festival. 24th September at Fashion Paramount.

This shot was taken as part of the Threads publicity shoot. Threads is a fremantle fashion collective parade as part of the Perth Fashion Festival showing on Sat 24th September 2pm at the Fremantle town hall. entry is free. There will be a second show on the sunday 25th 2pm.

the colour society

Last Sunday I gave a short presentation of my relationship with colour to the Colour Society here in Perth. It was a great chance to look at my work from another angle. It gave me a fresh perspective on the directions I have taken over many seasons of fashion and it also made me aware of my fierce connection with colour. It may seem more obvious to others that it has played a major role in my work but funnily enough it has been such an intuitive response for me that in many ways I have downplayed its importance. It is always good to recap on the past in order to move forward.
